Black Lives Matter

In 2020 George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. The disturbing images were played in the media and launched protests nationally and internationally. The Black Lives Matter movement grew with protests, marches and vigils cropping up all across the country. The reading and recognizing the names of senselessly lost black lives at these events was chilling.

I didn't make it into DC where there were daily protests ongoing for months, but I did join three small town marches. I shed a lot of tears listening to the speakers' stories. The grass roots efforts of Poolesville, Westminster and Frederick social justice leaders were beyond impressive. I think a lot of people learned and grew through their presence and participation in these events. I know I did. The Poolesville video isn't mine, but I thought it would be nice to add.
